SEC set to spend up to $238,787 annually on cryptocurrency financial analyst


The SEC is looking to bolster its cryptocurrency chops by hiring a "Financial Analyst Cryptocurrencies." According to the job listing, posted in early April, the analyst will have a robust set of responsibilities:

"The Crypto Specialist provides expertise and coordinates TM activities regarding crypto and digital asset securities. Duties include coordination with Division staff to establish a comprehensive plan to address crypto and digital asset securities; engage with other Divisions and Offices on such matters; serve as the Division's point of contact for domestic and international regulators, market participants, and the public; provide expert level comment on policy and workstreams."

The compensation for the role is as interesting as the responsibilities, with the analyst set to earn between $144,850 and $238,787 annually. The analyst is expected to have expert-level grasp of cryptocurrency products, policy and legal matters globally while demonstrating the ability to apply knowledge of federal securities laws to digital assets and crypto businesses. 

The role requires "completion of a pre-employment security investigation" and "favorable results on a Background Investigation may be a condition of employment." Additionally, "appointment may require completion of a one-year probationary period." Finally, "this position may be subjected to drug testing requirements."
