- About 8,800 people attended Consensus last year while only about 4,600 attended this year
- Based on my estimates, Consensus generated a total of $5.8 million in 2017, $15.6 million in 2018 and $8.7 million in 2019
- Events make up ~85% of CoinDesk’s revenues; subsidizing its content creation
It’s Blockchain Week in NYC and at the heart of it all is Consensus, an event organized by CoinDesk.
Last year, the conference gave a platform to all things wrong with the crypto ecosystem (think of endless panels shilling ICOs, nonsensical blockchain applications and glorified Ponzi schemes). So much so that this year, new competitors have entered the fray to try to eat CoinDesk’s lunch and to offer more nuanced discussions of substance.
